Trade Shows Post COVID

Trade Shows In A Post COVID World

There’s no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed every aspect of the world of work as we know it. As we emerge from the first wave and learn to adapt to a new kind of normal, there’s little doubt that our new working landscape will look very different. So what role do trade shows have to play in this brave new world?

People still need to connect with others and get their business messaging out there, but industry bodies are reporting that the earliest they think in-person trade shows will resume is 2021. When this happens, there will be enhanced protocols in place to keep the Trade Show a safe environment and mitigate any risk to attendees. Mart of Miami is carefully considering processes to keep delegates safe while also allowing them to do business.

Technology’s Role In Trade Shows

Using technology better can provide some of the answers, such as arranging for virtual delegate registration to minimize wait lines, or mailing badges out before the event. There will also need to be changed to meeting schedules for breakout sessions to allow sanitization measures, and seat attendees further apart.

There could also be more encouragement of using apps and online platforms to pre-arrange meetings with delegates, and tradeshow booths may undergo a redesign, with marketing giveaways going virtual or being pre-packed to avoid any transfer risk. Perhaps staggered access to the expo hall could both reduce any risk of infection and also encourage more meaningful interactions between exhibitors and delegates – Mart of Miami is considering all options to keep people safe. Stay tuned for our 2021 schedule to be released.
